And, this type of khukuri is called Bhojpure khukuri as it is come from Bhojpur. It is slightly bigger and heavier than the standard blade khukuri. Sacrificial series of kukris are huge khukuri which is used in religious sacrificial ceremonies in Nepal. Mostly this would be used in late September/early October during the largest festival in Nepal called “Dashain”.As we all know that the Festival is celebtrated all over world .To celebtrate it, every country has their own way be it big or small.. In Nepal also it is celebtrated in its own way. The biggest festival here is called Dhasain,or win of God over evil.According to Mythology, the evil was killed and his blood were presented to the God of Anger.Following the mythological belief the goat and the Water Buffalo are sacrifced to pleased the God during this Festival. This khukuri (kukri) is used during the sacrificial ceremonies to chop the head of baby buffalo or goats. It is strongly believed that he who is performing this ritual has to do it in one blow otherwise it will bring bad omen for him and his entire family. The blade comes two pockets on the back of the scabbard which hold a blunt steel called “chakmak” for sharpening the blade or for striking spark from flint and a little knife known as “karda” used for skinning, cutting paper and opening later. The notch (kaura or kaudi) in the blade near the hilt of most khukuris serves as conduit for the blood on the blade to drip out, thus preventing it from soiling the hilt, as well as a device for catching and neutralizing and enemy blade.
