Parang Machete: Parangs tend to have a thicker blade than most other machetes, and have a prominent primary grind that prevents the blade from lodging in green wood. The parang (and golok) machete styles were developed in Southeast Asia, where they remain popular today. Good for cutting thick, green vegetation without lodging in the material. The parang machete blade thickness, and relatively short length, make them ideal for portability without compromising chopping power.
